Without any biblical deferences or recognition of Jesus life of DETACHMENT to earthly things (money, pleasures of the flesh etc), it is obvious to anyone with COMMON sense that a family, children and wire, requires a LOT of time and effort to maintain. A priest does NOT have that amount of time to invest to a family. It would be wrong to the wife and children to be neglected. So it is logical that priests are celibate. Now back to biblical references, Jesus horrible suffering at Scourging at the Pillar was for man’s sins and perversions of the flesh. As Jesus gave up his sufferings for the forgiveness of sin, so too are priests asked to give up their celibacy trials for the saving of souls. All you anti-Catholic TROLLS respect how hard that is a worry about your own married life and for 50% of you hypocrites….fix it and remained married.

The Great Mystery No One Speaks Of: Most people have forgotten that God is the Father, the very one who started it all by creating our Creator and raising him from the dead (Colossians 1:15, 19), which happened before Jesus could create the heavens and the earth. People don't understand that because the Father is eternal everything is eternal; not just Jesus but everyone. It is because of one Spirit, the Spirit of God, whose powers are ordained of God alone, through Jesus. Jesus was able to heal the sick, raise the dead, and cast out devils using the power of the Spirit of God incarnated in him. Jesus said the Father is with him, and has not left him alone (John 8:29).

Catholic priests cannot marry AFTER ordination. Roman Catholics many times forget the fullness of the Body of Christ, the Church. Eastern Churches ordain married men to the deaconate then to the priesthood. Only celibate clergy can become bishops. "Roman" is just one of many rites in the Church. I have had both celibate and married pastors in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. They are wonderful.

It's actually a matter of decision. Some come to the Catholic Church already married; some are married then become Deacons, but the marriage they are in is the only one they want. Celibacy will always be the norm in the priestly life and among Nuns and consecrated men and women. It's because the whole life is given to God and God's people.

Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full[a] respect. Yes, they can. There are tens of thousands of married Catholic priests today in literally every rite, including the Latin rite. That’s right, you heard me. The Latin right contains priests inducted through the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St Peter from Anglicanism. The Ordinariate is part of the Latin Rite, and many Ordinariate priests have actually been transferred to ordinary Latin dioceses, where they continue to live and serve while married and fully sexually active. Because Catholic priests CAN be married, and have always been married, since the non Latin rites are ancient. Before the 1100s, married priests in the Latin rite were the norm. Before universal enforcement kicked in, they remained in existence quite commonly in the Latin Rite for centuries after. There is absolutely nothing in Catholic doctrine or the essence of the priesthood that forbids a priest from marrying, it is a mutable and changeable discipline that has not existed for the majority of Church history and desperately needs to go away. The Byzantine Catholics and Ordinariate do not have a vocations crisis.

The title is misleading as usual. Yes we know priests can't get married, but why can't married men become priests? It doesn't mean the end of celibacy. It means more priests, and less homosexual priests.

The priest doesn't give couples counseling, but spiritual guidance. To encourage and guide you in the path of sacrificial love for your spouse, children, and your 'neighbour' (i.e. those God has put around you). Who better to show this path of love if not the man who chooses LOVE itself, sacrificing the desires of the flesh to have a heart more available to your concerns? On that same token (one could argue), how can you have a meaningful relationship with Christ in his sacred humanity since he was celibate? How can you relate to Him or Him to you? That beauty lies there, in that he loves you (each one of us) so much that he forgoes that natural good desire for spouse and family to give his heart fully to you and me. That's the point of celibacy. It also gives hope (with witness of good celibate men) that God is worth a lifetime to wait for, to belong just to Him. I'm not the kind of guy to ever comment on youtube videos (first time I have, I think). It's just that I've seen this said by many others and it saddens me. That priest has made the sacrifice for you, as Christ has. For struggles of married life per se, or to exchange ideas about married life more specifically then it makes sense to chat to other married men. Those who are living a good Christian life in particular. Writing the above with lots of love, brother. As I said, I felt compelled to address your point. Onwards and upwards !

Marriage is not the solution to pedophilia. You have married teachers abusing students, married fathers abusing their own daughters etc. I think we can make the case that pedophiles should not marry. If a man’s wife dies does he have to immediately seek a wife for fear of abusing his children? No. If grandma passes away, grandpa is not going to become a pedophile. Your stance is illogical.

This is a doctrine I can't get behind with the basis of Holy Scripture supporting priests getting married. St. Peter himself was married. Matthew 8:14 (ESV) "And when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever." This verse indicates that Peter had a mother-in-law, implying he was married. Many other apostles were married. In 1 Corinthians 9:5, St. Paul refers to the fact that other apostles had believing wives. 1 Corinthians 9:5 (ESV) "Do we not have the right to take along a believing wife, as do the other apostles and the brothers of the Lord and Cephas?" This verse implies that other apostles and the brothers of the Lord and Cephas (Peter) had wives. St. Paul's charge to Timothy is for church leaders to be "one woman men." Here is evidence that church leaders, including bishops (overseers) and deacons, could be married. Here are a few key passages that address this topic: 1 Timothy 3:2 (ESV): "Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach." 1 Timothy 3:12 (ESV): "Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well." Titus 1:6 (ESV): "If anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination."

The secular clergy do not take religious vows, as the regular clergy do. So, the secular clergy do not take religious vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. The secular clergy would break no religious vow if they were to marry. So, if the Church decided that the secular clergy were free to marry, then they would not be breaking any vow if they did so. Celibacy is considered to be a “discipline” to which a Priest is invited to agree prior to ordination. If he decides that he is not prepared to submit to that discipline, then he would not be ordained. However, for those clergy who have come into the Church through the Ordinariate, who are already married, they may be ordained and remain married. However, they would not be able to enter a religious order and take religious vows - the married state precludes the religious state entirely and this is not just a matter of discipline, but something which is inherent to the religious life.

The Messiah NEVER claimed to be celibate. The God of Israel allowed his men to sleep with women they were not married to. Women alone were punished for pre-marital sex, see Deut 22. The punishment was that they could NEVER marry. Men had no such law on them from God. They were not restricted to only one woman. The prophets of God had wives and girlfriends and used the services of the worlds oldest PROfessionals. All this without YHWH saying it is evil. Meanwhile women that cheated where stoned to death or burned. If they touched another man's reproductive organ during a violent encounter she was to have her limb amputated. Since Christ was allowed access to women he was not married to, He could have had concubines (girlfriends) that he was intimate with. This is NEVER forbidden nor is it denied. Therefore we cannot teach that Christ was celibate. All we can say is that He was not married and no concubines or girlfriends are mentioned but he could have had them because he was allowed to. The men that serve YHWH in the bible are allowed many women whether they marry them or not. YHWH himself gives men wives and concubines, see Gen 33v5 and 2 Sam 12v8. Christ is married to the churches (PLURAL) in Matt 25v1-13 and 2 Cor 11v1-2 & 8. He is a polygynist by his own admission. In Eph 5v23-25 Paul says that those that emulate Christ are the married to actual women. Paul taught Titus and timothy that fatherly attributes are gain by being a father. This priest is an enemy of Christ like all other priests. That is why he is a member of a homosexual organization.
